INTRODUCTION

Since I was a kid writing out the plots of stories has been something of a hobby of mine there has never been an intension for them to be published or for them to be read by other people, it’s just been fun to create all these different types of characters, worlds and stories ranging from the emotional life of someone coping with loss and mental illness to epic journeys through the vast openness of space.

But recently I’ve toyed with an idea, back when I was a kid, apparently one thing that I had a bit of a knack for was writing short stories I remember two in particular both of them were ghost stories, one was about a man haunted by the ghost of his dead wife which was titled Eleanor and the second one was about a haunted hotel I can’t remember the name of that one, but I do remember that the teachers thought that they were good although I was about fourteen at the time so they probably had to be more positive with a child than a now fully grown adult.

A few years later I wrote another short story for a competition for SFX Magazine titled Wendigo which was about a small town which had a monster lurking in the forest nearby…sadly it did not win, but at one point I came up with an idea of writing a series of short stories about giant monsters which I titled The Ember Lights but it was an idea that just faded away. However in 2017 a film director that I admire named Neil Blomkamp created a project called Oats Studios which is a series of short films to create ideas for possible bigger feature films and with watching the films of Oats Studios the fire for The Ember Lights was rekindled but now focusing on multiple genres ranging from Sci Fi, Fantasy and Horror.

So welcome to my world of magic, monsters and everything in between and beyond, I hope you enjoy the journey...now gather round the story will begin

R'lyeh: Story Dedication

With R'LYEH finally completed I wanted to write a personal post about how this came to be. This story of eldritch horror and madness is dedicated to my sister STEVIE , as kids we were explored many horror based films even if we hadn't reached the correct film rating just yet. I think I was about 9 or 10 when mum introduced me to the movies like Predator and Aliens , sex was no no but spines being ripped out of a man's back was totally fine, our dad introduced us to things more of the spooky nature like The Haunting , Whistle and I'll Come to You , The Woman in Black . Over decades my sister and I have wandered through the dark corridors of horror including sneaking me in to see Blade II when I was not 18 but my big sister managed to sneak me in with a denim jacket if I recall to make me look older, we've been expanding our library of our favourite movie that have creeped us out ranging from John Carpenter's The Fog all the way to James Wan's The Conjuring...

Announcement!

Hey Firelight Wanderers I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted but things have been in development, I’ve been writing a couple of stories still working on an ending for Sirens and I’m almost finished with Gigarrah II . But the other reason it’s been so long is that I’ve been toying with an idea and I have finally made a decision, I have decided that I’m going to write The Ember Lights as an actually book with the plan (if it’s good enough) to get it published. The current stories that I have written will be the bulk of this collection which will be titled Compendium  and I will be adding a few new ones that I’ve come up, it’s a three part book and each part will contain seven stories. The Compendium isn’t going to be a massive book far very far from it but I love the idea of small collection of stories that someone could pull out of their bag and just read on a train or in a cafe, even for a moment just for them to get lost in a story. This is something that I’m really ex...
